Last weekend, the beau and I decided to visit Fujairah. It’s both our first time and normally, we’d rather travel to neighbouring countries, however this time we opted to check Fujairah out upon seeing a friends diving photos.

It’s one of those weekends when we just wanted to do something and Fujairah seemed like an ideal option given that it’s just a two-hour drive away from Dubai.
A friend suggested that we stay in Le Meridian Al Aqah Hotel and upon reading some nice Tripadvisor reviews, we opted to book our stay. Upon our arrival, we were welcomed by their friendly and helpful staff, we were then brought to our room. This greeted us… fresh fruits, flowers and champagne.
Our room is one of the Executive Suites and it has the exhilarating view of the sea and the mountains.
We left the room and went straight to the beach and had our late lunch at Guno Bar & Grill. In the evening we met some friends who were also vacationing from Dubai and spent the night filled with unlimited banter and laughter.
The next day we had to wake up early for snorkeling, we originally booked a diving session, however we did not have a license to do so, I think we can still do it but we will need to do a mini diving session which meant we needed an extra day to do it. The diving center is called Al Boom Diving and they offer various water activities to keep you entertained and busy whilst you stay in the area.

There are also four different hotels to choose from in the area; Rotana Hotel, Miramar Hotel, Sandy beach Hotel, Jal Hotel and lastly Le Meridien Al Aqah which I think is the best.
Our first destination was in Dibba Rock (@my_dibba) which is 15-20 mins boat ride away from the hotel. This is the best place to do snorkeling, corals are very few and not as colorful as the one you’d normally see from the internet, the variety of fishes and animals however, are mesmerizing, if you’re lucky, you’ll see reef sharks.
We then moved to Shams Rock, it is not an ideal place for snorkeling but perfect for diving, the massive rock promises hidden wonders. It’s also the place where you can find beautiful turtles floating around.
After spending a good 3 hours snorkeling, we head back to the hotel, had our lunch and drove back to Dubai. We left the hotel at around 5pm, perfect time to hit the road whilst the sun sets.
We found Masafi market and checked some locally made carpets, decided not to buy but it was just nice to look around.
And as we pave our way back home, we both couldn’t believe that we did not bother exploring this side of the UAE, it’s a hidden gem that shouldn’t be missed. Had I known of this beauty sooner, I would’ve visited right away. If not for a friends beautiful snap, I wouldn’t even know, this inspired me to create a short video capturing the weekend’s fun adventure.
Here’s a short video of our trip, enjoy!
